Preciosa Crystal Pearls are made in the Czech Republic and are high quality lead-free crystal pearls which provide a high quality finish to your designs and are a great alternative to the world's leading brand of crystals. What Are Preciosa Pearls?

Preciosa Pearls imitate the appearance of cultivated pearls and have a crystal ball core with a silky-smooth coating around the outside. The nacre coating can come in various colours, such as the classic white, cream and Creamrose, as well as more adventurous colours that reach beyond what is naturally available with organic pearls.

Preciosa pearls often come pre-drilled, and the range includes the following variations:

  • Fully Drilled pearls contain a drilled hole that passes all the way through the pearl, meaning multiple pearls can be threaded together on a strand like a necklace and these can come in a variety of shapes.
  • Half Drilled Round Pearls possess a drilled hole that only reaches the centre and then stops. This type of pearl lends itself to being glued onto the end of headpins where the pearl then sits neatly on the end, this is often seen on dangly earrings.
  • Pearls can also be flatback in shape and these are referred to as Cabochons. This type of pearl is held in place with glue and is often seen on buttons.

Different Kinds of Preciosa Pearls

Button Half Drilled Pearls

Preciosa half-drilled pearls are pearls with a thread hole that is drilled only halfway to the centre point, rather than all the way through. This type of hole is designed to be used with a little glue to attach the pearl to a finding, such as an ear stud or jewellery wire, which conceals the fitting. Because of this design, half-drilled pearls are ideal for making stud earrings and tiaras, where the pearl is required to sit flat against a surface without any visible fittings. The half-drilled hole allows for secure and precise placement of the pearl, creating a polished and elegant finished look.

Cabochon Pearls

Preciosa Cabochon Pearls are crafted with a smooth and rounded surface on one side and a flat back on the other. The crystals are polished into a domed shape instead of being cut with facets like traditional crystals. Cabochon pearls are versatile and are widely used in jewellery making. Compared to faceted crystals, cabochons do not have sharp edges or facets, resulting in a unique look and feel.

Elliptic Pearls

Preciosa Elliptic Pearls are a type of artificial pearl that has an elliptical shape, which sets them apart from the more traditional round or teardrop-shaped pearls. They are created using a unique pearl coating that is applied to a crystal core, giving them a lustrous finish that imitates the look of genuine pearls.

Pear Pearls

Preciosa Pear Pearls showcase a traditional pear shape with a tapered design that has a rounded base and a pointed top, resulting in a graceful and balanced appearance. The hole runs down through the full length of the pear making it suitable for drop style earrings.

Round Pearls

Preciosa pearls Round have a crystal ball core with a silky-smooth coating, giving them the appearance of cultivated pearls. Preciosa Round Pearls are artificial pearls that feature a crystal core coated with a special pearl finish. This finish gives the pearls a lustrous sheen that closely mimics the appearance of genuine pearls.
