Instructions
Step 1
Gather your supplies
Gather and cut your wire with your side cutters. You will need a full circle of 24-gauge wire for the base of the pendant. Make sure to leave some extra wire so that the ends are overlapping.
You will also need to cut around 13 pieces of 26-gauge wire that are around 30 cm each in length.
Step 2
Securing the Base
To secure your base into a loop you will need to attach all of your 26-gauge pieces to your loop.
To do this, take one of your 26-gauge pieces and fold it over the overlapping wire on your 24-gauge loop. Now take one end and tightly wrap it around the loop roughly 5/6 times.
Do this until the overlap on your 24-gauge loop is no longer visible.
Step 3
Twisting your Branches
The first step in creating your branches is to take your chain nose pliers and twist two of the excess 26-gauge wire pieces you wrapped around your loop. Do this until they are twisted around halfway down the lengths of the wire.
Repeat this step as many times as needed while leaving two untwisted pieces of wire in between each twisted piece.
Once you have done this, turn your wires so that they are facing into the loop.
Step 4
Creating your Tree
Now it’s time to get creative. To start the tree, you will need to create roots. Using your wires, twist and bend them to your liking, then bend them so that they all come together in the centre.
Make sure to maintain the shape of your loop while doing this, and don’t use the full lengths of your wires as you still need them for the rest of the tree.
Step 5
Adding your Tree Trunk
The trunk is composed of all of your wires twisted together. For this you will need your chain nose pliers. Take your time twisting the wires together, and again, make sure to maintain the shape of your loop while doing this.
Step 6
Branches
For the final stages of our pendant, we will need to start adding beads. Before we can do this, we want to create roughly four main branches for the wire to sprout off from. Twist these using your chain nose pliers and bend them to your liking.
Once your main branches have been formed, you can start adding your beads to the individual branches you have made. You can add the colours in any order you like.
Step 7
Finishing Touches
To finish off our pendant we will need to take each branch and wrap it around the outside of the loop two times, cutting off the excess with your side cutters, then flattening the sharp edge with your chain nose pliers. Repeat this until there is not excess wire left.
Finally, add one jump hoop to the top of your pendant, then thread the chain of your choice through your jump hoop.
Congratulations! You have made your very own wire tree pendant.
Show it off to your friends and wear it with pride this autumn season.
